A premium AI receptionist — pre-trained for law firms, ready in a few minutes of your time

Every missed intake call is a case that walks down the street.

New-client intake, area-of-law routing, retainer Q&A, and urgent-matter escalation — handled the way a discreet legal-office receptionist would. Around the clock.

BookedSmarter is a virtual receptionist for law firms. It is not a law firm, does not provide legal advice, and using it does not create an attorney-client relationship — that begins only when you sign a retainer with the firm.

Built to know your law firm

The day your firm signs up, the AI already knows how a legal office runs. It knows intake calls are sensitive and treats them that way, that the consultation usually comes before any number, and that the question "how much does it cost to hire an attorney" needs the careful answer — flat fee, hourly, contingency, depending on the matter.

A formal attorney-client relationship is only established after a signed retainer.

It triages by area of law (family, estate, personal injury, business formation, criminal defense, real-estate closing) and routes to the right attorney's intake queue. It captures the urgency the right way — court date in 48 hours, just-served-with-papers, emergency hearing — without ever offering a legal opinion. It tells callers, in plain language, that it is not able to give legal advice, that a consultation is the right next step, and that anything they share is intended for the attorney.

You stay in control of the specifics — your practice areas, your consultation policy (free, flat-fee, billable), your retainer ranges, your conflict-of-interest framework, your after-hours protocol. Your AI fills in what it already knows about how law firms typically operate, you confirm, and it goes live.

FAQ

1. Does the AI give legal advice?

No. The AI is configured not to provide legal advice. If a caller pushes for an opinion, the AI declines and routes the question to the attorney.

2. What happens if a caller has an emergency — court date tomorrow, just got arrested?

It captures the urgency, gives the caller the safety language for immediate situations (dial 911 in an emergency; if detained, you have the right to remain silent and the right to an attorney), and texts you immediately so an attorney or intake coordinator can call back fast.

3. Does it run conflict checks?

It captures the names and parties the conflict check needs — caller, opposing party, anyone else mentioned — and texts those to your intake team to run the check before you call back. It does not "clear" anything itself.

4. Is the caller's information confidential?

Calls are encrypted in transit and call summaries live in your dedicated portal. The AI tells the caller, in plain language, that anything shared is intended for the attorney. A formal attorney-client relationship is only established after a signed retainer.

5. Can I change what it says — for example, what we charge for a consultation?

Yes. You edit your practice areas, your consultation policy, your retainer framework, your conflict-check questions, your after-hours protocol, and the way it greets callers — from your portal. Changes go live without re-training anything.

6. Does it integrate with our case-management software?

Connectors to the platforms law firms most often use are rolling out. While they roll out, every intake lands in your portal and as a text so your team can place it in your case-management system.

7. What about case-status calls from existing clients?

It greets them, captures the question, and routes to the paralegal or attorney who owns the file. It does not characterize case status, deadlines, or strategy.
